Using a rope and a roll of cling film, Laura Murphy sets her experiences of her own body amidst an anecdotal tapestry of body hair observations on public transport and dinner table discussions about lesbian sex. Dark, witty and uncompromising, Contra interrogates personal, social and historical occupations of the female body, and explores where such bodies are positioned and how we’re meant to look at them. Directed by award-winning experimental theatre-maker Ursula Martinez, Contra contains nudity and explicit references to female sexuality and mythical reptiles.

Fierce, courageous and unapologetic
Genius, ground breaking (...) Recommend seeing with an open mind
Contra offers a really accessible way of talking about important issues that are often affronting or challenging (speaking as a white cis man)
